Romans 8 Memory Challenge: Week 2

Last week I started Do Not Depart‘s newest scripture memory project: Hiding Romans 8 in My Heart by memorizing verses 1 & 2.

Verse one was either one I’ve read or heard a lot because I had it memorized in about 30 seconds. Verse two took me longer, but still wasn’t too bad. It’s thinking about the ENTIRE CHAPTER that seems overwhelming to me – I’ve done a lot of scripture memory in the past but always in one or two verse chunks, never trying to memorize an entire chapter. I guess I just need to focus on the verses of the week, and let the chapter take care of itself as I slowly add verses to my memory. Baby steps!

Last week’s verses:

Romans 8:1-2
1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

This week’s verses:

Romans 8:3-4
3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,
4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
