October Goals Review

Monthly Goals ReviewOctober Goals:

  1. Go to Influence.
  2. Done!

  3. Go to Dr. and get health screening form sent off to R’s employer.
  4. Done!

  5. Decide about G joining TKD class or not. Sign him up if decide “yes.”
  6. Have mostly decided to sign him up in January. Too much going on right now to want to add it to the schedule, but January will probably be a good time.

  7. Decide about buying vehicle. If possible, buy vehicle while R’s mom is in town to watch kids.
  8. Done! If all goes according to plan, we’ll pick it up later today.

  9. Talk to R about composting
  10. Not done. Too many other things to talk about this month when we had time. Like the vehicle, which seemed to take most of our time.

  11. Read at least 4 books.
  12. Done!

  13. Get caught up on writing reviews.
  14. Well, was kind of done. And then I read more books and added to the list. So the review list isn’t any worse than it was, and it’s mostly new books added to it, which is something I suppose.

  15. Platelet donation (assuming health improves)
  16. Whew. Good thing I put in that disclaimer. The days I could have done it (thanks to R available to watch kiddos) I wasn’t feeling well enough. Planning on trying again this weekend.

  17. Share photos of the kiddos.
  18. Not done.

  19. Menu plan for the month. By the 1st weekend.
  20. Done!

  21. Spend 30 minutes working on filing.
  22. Not done.

  23. Spend 30 minutes working on kids clothes (get ready for cooler temps; box up outgrown items, etc.)
  24. Probably done. I never used a timer, but I’m pretty sure I hit 30 minutes when it was all added up.

  25. Read for bookclub. And attend bookclub (assuming children/health permit).
  26. Half done. The “read for bookclub” half. And the attend part wasn’t done, thanks to sickness which was included in that disclaimer, so still kind of done.

  27. Fix Goodreads records (the TBR list part)
  28. Not done. Spent my computer time doing other bloggy stuff.

  29. Quicken kept up and budget stuff caught up.
  30. Quicken part done, budget part mostly done, but not 100%. Some budgetary changes have slowed me down.

  31. Send a letter to my friend S. in Colorado.
  32. Not done. I think I need to concede that email is much more likely to happen.

  33. Passwords streamlined/saved and computer backup done and a routine scheduled.
  34. Not done.

  35. Read MacArthur book and post review.
  36. Not done, but I have half-finished the book which is progress at least.

  37. Get next DR series half written.
  38. Without completely sitting down and counting posts, I think this is done. If not I’m close to halfway.

  39. Go to camera store & see if my camera can be fixed.
  40. Not done. Hoping this weekend.

Make Annual Goals

Project 45 is Make Annual Goals. And this is probably proof that I’m somewhat crazy, but making annual goals in October? Absurd.

But I do make monthly goals (and I share them). I am working on drafting my 2013 goals, but they’re not finalized (again, it’s only October).

So all I’m going to say is that yes, I make goals. Sometimes I even succeed in achieving my goals. Ok, most of the time I succeed in achieving them, unless they’re health or exercise-related.

Do you set annual goals? If so, do you set them by the calendar year, or could you set new ones in October?

September Goals Review

September Goals:

  1. Launch new blog, facebook page, and twitter account.
    Done done done done done.
  2. Get posts ready to go for October’s 31 Days of series. And by “posts” I mean “as many as possible. At least 15. Hopefully 20 or even all 31.”
Done. Although I’d like to revamp some of them, I’ve got something ready to go for every day, so that if life gets crazy I’m not post-less.
  3. Find something striped so I can go to the party.
Um, done enough. I’ve got a scarf that’s not really right (too warm) but I figure I can always loop it around my bag. Hence then done enough.
  4. Platelet donation.
    Done!
  5. Share photos of the kiddos.
    Done. One month’s worth anyway.
  6. Menu plan for the month. By the 8th of the month.
Done. On the 9th, so at least it was still that first weekend, right?
  7. Spend 30 minutes working on filing.
    Nope.
  8. Spend 30 minutes working on boxing up baby clothes to return.
Spent 30 minutes sorting clothes, although I didn’t actually box anything. I’m still counting it because it was working on the kids clothes that was really the goal, I just worded it poorly.
  9. Read for bookclub. And attend bookclub (assuming children/health permit).
Well, I attended bookclub, and I had read a condensed version of the book, but I didn’t finish the full version. It was not a kindle-friendly text.
  10. Enter books read into Goodreads (get to page 130 of my records)
Done. Entered them all, except for the ones I skipped because they didn’t have a record in Goodreads or there was a problem with the record.
  11. Quicken kept up and budget stuff caught up.
Quicken part yes, budget part no.
  12. Send a letter to my friend S. in Colorado.
No. I am a terrible friend.
  13. Take papers to free shred day at credit union on 9/21.
Done! Woo-hoo! That box o’papers in the garage is gone. Well, actually, it’s still there, but there are only a handful of papers in it now instead of the overflow it previously had.
  14. Passwords streamlined/saved and computer backup done and a routine scheduled.
    Nope.
  15. Read MacArthur book and post review.
    Nope.

Despite not completing everything, I’m really pleased with how much I did get done. The Goodreads data entry was a big project, as was writing ahead on posts for the series. Add to that sick kids {again} and them sharing it with me {bummer} & I’m satisfied with my productivity.

How did you do on any goals you had for September?

August Goals Review

So August was kind of a blur, thanks to sick kids for 3 weeks of the month.

So, how did I do? August Goals:

  1. Share two months worth of photos of the kiddos. (Because I didn’t manage to get any shared last month.)
  2. Half done. Shared one, and got the second month almost ready to share. Apparently I took a ridiculous number of photos in June and it took forever to get through them.

  3. Menu plan for the month.
  4. Technically done, but done a week at a time. Not what I’d really meant.

  5. Filing mess whittled down to what fits in the in box. Sadly enough, that’s a lot of progress.
  6. Done! Done right away, which is a good thing because after the first of the month I never got back to it at all.

  7. Baby clothes boxed up to return.
  8. Not done. Not touched at all. (See above, re: sick kids.)

  9. Read for bookclub. And host bookclub (barring unforseen circumstances).
  10. Done. And the downstairs at least was clean and tidy. The upstairs was tidy and semi-clean, but no one knows it wasn’t vacuumed. Well I guess they could now.

  11. Wine tasting with Jennifer (Riesling!) (Not sure if I should really put this on there, because it’s not completely in my control, so let’s give this an asterisk of “if at all possible.”
  12. Done. And we picked out our favorites too.

  13. Clean out the rest of the garage freezer that I didn’t finish last month.
  14. Not done. Not touched.

  15. Goodwill run. For reals.
  16. Sigh. Not done.

  17. Enter books read into Goodreads (get to page 90 of my records)
  18. Done. I’m actually up to page 106, because even with sick kids I was able to peck away at this.

  19. Get my desk cleared off. Again.
  20. Done.

  21. Quicken kept up and budget stuff caught up. Again.
  22. Done at the beginning of the month, but I need to finish with August’s stuff. At least that’s not much of a backlog.

  23. Work on blog behind-the-scenes stuff. Updates coming soon. :) Let’s try this again…
  24. Done! Well, it’s not 100% done, but it’s done enough that it’s launching next week. Tomorrow’s post will introduce the new site.

  25. Guest room ready for visitors, so that we’re prepared for whenever we have them.
  26. Done.

  27. Send a letter to my friend S. in Colorado. She sent me a snail-mail card last month and it was so lovely getting something in the mail that I’ve got to send one to her. :)
  28. Not done. :(

  29. One way or the other, do something to get rid of the mountain of papers to be shredded.
  30. The “something” was to find out when the closest (both in time and location) free shred day is by my credit union. And it’s in September, and it’s on my calendar.

  31. Baby gift and card mailed for my sister-in-law’s shower.
  32. Not done. Instead I ended up going in on a bigger gift with my mother-in-law, in addition to the gift I’d already sent out to them. Eh, good enough. I would have sent a card if I’d had one or hadn’t had sick kids keeping me from getting to the store. My mother-in-law added my name to her card. :)

  33. Passwords streamlined/saved and computer backup done and a routine scheduled. I got quite a scare last month with the whole malware incident.
  34. Not done.

  35. Platelet donation. To my brother if it’s needed and possible, a general donation if it isn’t.
  36. Not done, but I have a donation appointment scheduled on Saturday. And I made the appointment in August. ;)

  37. Read MacArthur and Wax books and post reviews.
  38. Half-done. I posted the Wax review, but haven’t yet finished the MacArthur book. I’ve got it on my Kindle, and don’t like it as an e-book, so it’s been slow going.

  39. Bloodwork done by Aug 10, so results are back before my doctors appointment the next week.
  40. Done!

Considering the sick kids, and the fact that sick kid #1 shared it with me for the last week of the month, I’m actually pretty pleased with my progress.
