Last week I wondered if verse 28 would be easier because it’s familiar, or if it would be harder because I previously memorized it in the NIV translation.

The verdict? Definitely harder. Trying to get the differences makes my brain feel fuzzy.

This week’s verses seem pretty easy however, so I’m hoping they are and that allows me to continue reviewing some of the earlier week’s verses that aren’t memorized well.

Romans 8:30-31
30 And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Another not-so-great week as we continued to recover, and catch up on everything that got ignored while we were sick. And finish getting our belongings out of our old house in preparation for closing on it this week.

I think I shouldn’t have taken my intentional break last week, because this week ended up being an unintentional break. It was a week of sickness for my kids and me, and I did zero memorization. I did zero review. I did n.o.t.h.i.n.g.

Other than, you know, take care of sick kids while being sick myself, and wishing desperately that we lived near grandparents and/or Mr. SJ didn’t have to work so late all week.

But, we’ve survived and we’re on the mend, although I think the baby’s still got a few more days to go if she follows the pattern the rest of us had. And hopefully I can put in some work this week and stop feeling like such a slacker.

After the great week I had last week this week I really didn’t work on the verses at all. I think I just needed a break or something because everyday I told myself to read over them at least but oh, I did not want to put my brain to work at remembering them.

So I gave myself a break and will pick back up this week.

This has been a better week than I’ve had in quite awhile! I’ve been using Memverse.com regularly, and really enjoying it. I have intentionally *not* been trying to see just how many of the verses I know cold, in an attempt to not stress over progress or lack thereof. Instead I’ve just been working on the verses as the program gives them to me.

I feel like all I’ve been doing lately is making excuses for why I haven’t made much progress.

Unfortunately, this week has been more of the same lack of progress. How many ways can I say I’m plugging away at it, but not much is sticking?

Scripturetyper was semi-helping, but on the Facebook group Katie suggested memverse.com as another option, so I’ve started using that one, and I definitely prefer it.

It’s the January link-up!

I’m still blogging weekly with the scripture for the week, and an update on the individual week’s progress can be found at (week five, week six, week seven, week eight, and week nine).

It’s been a rough month. Two houseguests, a husband out of town, sick kids, getting sick myself, and oh, yeah, the holidays have meant that I’ve spend very little focused time on scripture memory.

But it’s not a race, so even if I have forgotten more than I learned this month it’s ok. I’m still learning and growing even if not by much.

I do find it incredibly exciting when I listen to the chapter and, even if I don’t know it all word-perfect, it is more and more familiar. Needing prompts to get through the verses is still progress from not knowing them at all!
