I want to use cash more because I think I would spend less. I want to start by giving myself $20 a week for “mad money” to use for a coffee, chap stick, whatever and once the money is gone I can’t spend any more. I am too reliant on using my debit card to make silly $5 and under purchases that I know add up to a ridiculous amount of money that I could have otherwise saved.

Thanks Kate – it really is. And I am having fun unpacking boxes that have been packed for a YEAR. No joke, because we packed up so much stuff long before listing the house to get it less personal. I was *thrilled* to find the box that had all my framed photos so I’m hoping to get them up on walls and shelves soon.

Isn’t it? G keeps asking if we’re going to the “old house” and we’re telling him “no, we’re done with that – no more trips there!” (The last few weeks have involved a lot of runs over there as we got out all of the staging furniture & accessories.)

I know – I told my husband while we were leaving how much I enjoyed my Valentine’s lunch and he looked at me like I was crazy – but I was completely serious. I had a delicious meal with my favorite people. Even before kids we never went out for a stereotypical romantic meal out on Valentines, because we never wanted to deal with crowded restaurants as everyone else tried to do the same thing.

Glad you enjoyed your Valentine’s Day too!
